Watchlist 4/1/09

I look for the big winners. I don't trade until I find them, but that's part of my strategy as I'll explain later. If the market is red, I will be adding to my positions and I'll post when I do so.
The symbols in other posts should be set on alerts as they are looking for reasons to run in the coming weeks, but are not to be traded until they start moving.

Watchlist for Monday - 3/29

EMKR
XTLB
LVLT
QTM
LJPC

adding EPL and WSTL just for the fun of it

WSTL - watch for .38 break

Each of these are on the verge of breaking out and have a good volume increase to go with it.
XTLB - .19 is resistance. Though it doesn't have the volume I'd like, anything above .20 should send it to around .56

EMKR - 1.20 is target

LVLT - looking for more volume and new highs. If news is good on the 6th, this should send it back to 1.50

QTM - 1.37 target

LJPC - .35 is resistance. Hoping it breaks

Other than that, I think we'll have more sell0ff but I'm keeping my longs

My first blog

It's sunday, March 29th, 2009.

I've decided to make a blog to record my trades, list my strategy, and dissect both my winners and losers as a constant reminder of how I need to adapt my strategy to continue trading 30 years from now.

About me:

I am a 28yr old college graduate with a B.B.A. in Management Information Systems.
I had the opportunity to work at Acxiom straight out of college, but after I broke my leg (a month prior nearly sliced my thumb off) I slowly pulled myself away from the corporate job force. It was an internship and they were on the verge of asking me to continue working for them after graduation. For one reason or another, I quit going. I attribute it to the pain killers I was on and the lack of motivation that ensued. But for whatever reason it was, it was a mistake.

Hopefully, I've learned from that mistake. I have applied to HP and have a second phone interview this thursday.

I wish I had started a blog sooner so I could have a written record of my bad trades. Here's a quick list of my losers:
DRYS
ABH
AVR
CAR
EEE
EGLE
ALD (which I held since it dropped so suddenly)
AVZA
CBAI
MU

Some of my recent winners:
PIR
AIG
CTIC
FNM
GM
AXL
FAS
ALD (averaged down at .60 and sitting at a gain of 30% from my loser previously listed)
RF
DXO
JAVA

My longs include: FAS, SWHC, S, AMD, BAC

My strategy includes a variety of styles for a reason: Sticking to one is limiting yourself. Why day trade when going long would make more sense? Why go long when the volatility would work against you? I swing trade, day trade, and hold long positions. So far it's successful. I am up 96% since last November.

My girlfriend is on her way over so I'll document some of my strategies, tools I use, as well as fill in some basic profile information.
This is a blog for myself, and possibly for others to read

I don't think my way is right or that it's the only way to trade, that I'm a great trader, or that I don't have a lot to learn. I've had many years exposure to the market as my father was a broker in the 80s/90s, but I do regret not jumping in it sooner.

More to come: strategies, tools, daily/weekly posting of trades, general information
